LEG 1: Over 2.5 West Ham Corners
We’re kicking off our Bet Builder with what looks like a banker selection. Arsenal concede relatively few corners, as you might expect for a side that dominate possession and territory so heavily.
The Gunners have allowed an average of 4.0 corners per game, with eight of their last 11 league games seeing the opponents pick up at least 3 corners throughout the 90 minutes. Arsenal have also allowed 3 or more corners in all 6 of their away games this season, with their opponents averaging 5.67 corners per game when facing Mikel Arteta’s side away from the Emirates.
West Ham have taken 4.75 corners per game in the Premier League and have taken at least 3 corners in 11 of their 12 league games. Only in their away game against Fulham way back in mid-September saw the Hammers fall short, taking 2 corners. They have also taken 5 or more corners in 7 of their last 8 league games.
Leg 2: Jarrod Bowen To Have 1+ Shots On Target
Jarrod Bowen looks a strong choice in the shot on target market here. The England international plays 90 minutes in nearly every game for the Hammers and will be key to their hopes of an unexpected win against their North London rivals here.
Bowen has had a shot on target in 8 of his last 11 league games, including each of his last 3. His 0.94 shots on target per 90 is the highest of any West Ham player expected to start here and his 2.31 shots per 90 is behind only Tomas Soucek. Despite West Ham’s woeful attacking displays so far this season, Bowen has regularly been able to find some space and test the opposition goalkeeper.
Of his last 5 home league games, Bowen has notched a shot on target in 4. The 1 game in which he did not, he scored, thanks to penalties not counting as a shot on target. This run has included home games against Man City and Chelsea, so Bowen can be expected to try his luck even in games where West Ham see little of the ball, as we expect will happen here.
Leg 3: Emerson To Commit 1+ Fouls
Emerson Palmieri is in for a tough assignment here, as he goes up against Bukayo Saka. The Brazilian full-back has committed a foul in 8 of his 12 league starts for West Ham this season, averaging well over a foul per 90, at 1.17.
His game time has increased of late, playing at least 82 minutes in 4 of his last 6 West Ham games. That is good news for this selection, with Emerson having fouled in all but 1 of the games this season in which he played over 80 minutes.
His matchup, as mentioned above, is Saka, who has won more fouls than any other Arsenal player, drawing 2.50 fouls per 90. His 25 Premier League fouls won is nearly 10 more than anyone else in the Gunners’ squad. Saka has won 2 or more fouls in all but 1 of the 10 league games in which he played over 45 minutes, and has now won 2 or more fouls in 6 straight Premier League fixtures.
Leg 4: Thomas Partey To Commit 2+ Fouls
Thomas Partey has made the second most fouls of any Arsenal player this season, fouling 19 times in his 11 league starts. That works out to an average of 1.68 fouls per 90 for the Ghana international so far this season.
Partey has committed 2 or more fouls in each of his last 4 league starts, and in 7 of his 11 Premier League starts this season. With Declan Rice being encouraged to get forward, Partey often becomes isolated in midfield, which leads to more fouls being committed. That is only likely to be even more clear as they face a West Ham side who rely heavily on their counterattacking threat.
Partey has solid matchups here, up against Carlos Soler, Lucas Paqueta, and Tomas Soucek, who have drawn 1.28, 0.90, and 0.72 per 90 respectively this season. Soler has drawn 3 fouls across the 2 games in which he played over 45 minutes this season, whilst Paqueta has won fouls in 4 of his last 5 league games. Soucek has also won at least 1 foul in each of his last 3 games.
