The first half saw FCBU dictating the tempo early on. Jerry had the first opportunity but couldn’t find the target from a tight angle. The breakthrough came in the 29th minute when Suraj Rawat unleashed a stunning half-volley from just outside the box, leaving the opposition goalkeeper with no chance. Shortly before halftime, Kom doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, capitalizing on a scrappy situation in the box following a corner from Dhanush. The outswinging corner was played into the box, and Kom headed it into the goal. With a 2-0 lead, FCBU headed into the break brimming with confidence.

The second half was a showcase of FCBU’s attacking prowess. In the 77th minute, Rakesh added a third with a signature goal. He received the ball in front of the half line, flicked it over the defender, moved down the left wing and cut inside. The end product was a powerful strike curling into the top right corner. A minute later, Rakesh struck again, calmly slotting in a rebound off a ricochet off the underside of the crossbar from Rakesh. Kom completed the rout in the 82nd minute, with his brace, courtesy a brilliant set up from Dhruv. Dhruv got the ball in front of the halfline, and dribbled with great pace down the left wing. He cut inside, beat the defender and squared the ball across the 10 yard box where it was neatly tapped in by Kom.
