It sounds like things could be improving in China for the video game industry. This comes after a report from the research firm CNG showed that video game sales grew in the country for the first time in six months.
CNG is reporting that total revenues for the Chinese video game market topped out at $2.77 billion in October. This marks a 4.7% increase in revenues from September of this year.
As pointed out by the South China Morning Post, PC and mobile gaming played significant roles in the industry’s recovery. mobile game sales rose by 3.9% from September to October in China. That number was almost double for the PC gaming sector, which saw revenues rise by 7.6% in October.
Even though this is a positive sign, China still has a long way to go before the country’s video game market fully recovers. According to CNG, this October’s sales figures were still 18.1% lower than they were in 2021.
