PM Modi interacts with Indian community in Poland, says India believes in equal closeness with all nations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday arrived in Poland and addressed the Indian diaspora in Warsaw where he recalled the decades-old ties between India and Poland.

Addressing the Indian community in Warsaw, PM Modi said, “New India believes in equal closeness with all countries. Today’s India wants development of all”.

“I am thankful to the people of Poland for the warm welcome that I have received here. For the past one week, a lot has been being discussed in the media about Poland and its people. It is also being said that this is the first time in 45 years that an Indian PM has visited Poland,” PM Modi said.

“Today’s India wants to connect with all. Today’s India talks about the development of all. Today’s India is with all and thinks about the interests of all,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister received a grand reception after landing in Warsaw, marked by a formal ceremonial welcome. In addition to the official honours, members of the Indian community greeted him with enthusiasm, chanting “Modi, Modi” as a warm gesture of support.

Furthermore, PM Modi said that India is going to start the Jam Sahib Memorial Youth Action program. “As part of this programme, 20 Polish youths will be invited to come to India. This way, Polish youths will get to learn more about India. Kolhapur Memorial is a tribute by Poland to the Kolhapur royal family,” he said.
In his speech, PM Modi further said that India was a supporter of peace in the volatile region as he reiterated “this is not an era of war” and any conflict should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.

“India is an advocate of permanent peace in this region. Our stand is very clear – this isn’t an era of war. This is the time to come together against those challenges which threaten humanity. Therefore, India believes in diplomacy and dialogues…,” Modi told the gathering.

PM Modi, who arrived in Poland on the first leg of his two-nation visit during which <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/world/story/rusia-ukraine-conflict-pm-narendra-modi-volodymyr-zelenskyy-ukraine-visit-mea-foreign-ministry-2584489-2024-08-19″ target=”_self”>he will also travel to Ukraine, paid his tributes at the memorials for the Valivade-Kolhapur camp and the Monument to the Battle of Monte Cassino soon after landing in Warsaw.

Notably, PM Modi’s visit to Poland is the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in the past 45 years.
