Marseille host Monaco in Ligue 1 on Sunday night with both teams hoping to close the gap on league leaders PSG.

The hosts are third and three points behind Monaco in second after 12 games. Both sides will be desperate to pull off a statement win and that will likely lead to goals.

Over 2.5 goals is our opening selection in France. It’s landed in Marseille’s last five league games and in three of Monaco’s last four outings.

Marseille’s league matches have averaged 3.6 goals, while Monaco’s tally is 2.6. Both sides have decent attacking quality so expect an entreating showdown.

We’re expecting goals but cards are also very likely at the Orange Vélodrome.

Marseille have received the third-most booking points in Ligue 1 this season (25 yellows and four reds), while Monaco are sixth on the list after picking up 26 cards in 12 games.

The home side are averaging just under 2.5 cards per game, while Monaco’s average is 2.17. Given how the winner can close the gap on league leaders PSG, expect a feisty affair.

Juventus to win

From France to Italy now as Juventus travel to Leece in Serie A. The away side, who sit in sixth place, are the only unbeaten team left in the league (won six, drawn seven).

Leece won last time out against bottom of the table Venezia but they’re hovering just above the relegation zone after 13 outings. They’ve scored just six times so far this season and they have the second-worst Serie A goal difference of -15.

All signs point to a Juventus win as Thiago Motta’s men look to close the gap on the league leaders. They drew against AC Milan last weekend and they’ll be determined to get back to winning ways against a struggling Leece side.

Under 2.5 goals

While Juventus should have far too much quality for Leece and they’ll likely get the three points, we don’t expect them to dominate and put a few goals past their rivals.

Under 2.5 goals is the smart pick for Sunday’s clash as the selection has landed in Leece’s last five and in Juventus’ last three league games.

Leece and Juventus have the third and fourth worst tally for goals per game in the Italian top division at 2.1 and 2.2 respectively. Don’t expect plenty of action!

Under 2.5 goals

Finally, we’re in Spain for Real Sociedad v Real Betis, which sees 10th host ninth.

Just two points separate the sides and they have a very similar record after 14 La Liga games.

Real Sociedad come into Sunday’s clash on the back of their 2-0 win against Ajax in the Europa League, while Real Betis lost in the Europa Conference League.

The home side seem the most likely winners but we’re on Under 2.5 goals instead. Only three of Real Sociedad’s 14 La Liga games this season have had three or more goals, with their matches averaging a dismal 1.6 goals.

Real Betis’ average tally per game is higher at 2.3, however, nine of their 14 matches have had less than three goals. The stats are in our favour!
