It is believed by some Black Ops 6 players that Treyarch has already begun teasing the next Perk-a-Cola coming to the game, as references to Double Tap appear in a new store bundle. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was one of the most anticipated games of the year, and it was launched to a lot of favorable receptions, getting a head start after its release.
Offering two excellent round-based experiences on launch day, Black Ops 6 beat the expectations of many, if not all, players. And to make things even better, Treyarch isn’t done with dropping Black Ops 6 Zombies content for 2024. With a new Zombies map, Citadelle des Morts, coming later this year in Black Ops 6 Season 1 Reloaded, Treyarch just might be giving players an idea of the better things to come. With that said, it seems that the new Perk arriving alongside the new map might be one that players are already familiar with, Double Tap.
Double Tap May Be Returning in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Based on a reference that appears in a new store bundle, players speculate that the popular Double Tap Perk may be set to return in the post-launch content of Black Ops 6 Zombies.
Activision recently released a new bundle in its in-game store — which allows players to purchase a Zombies-inspired set of cosmetic items — the Mastercraft: Idead Tracer Pack bundle. The bundle includes a rather interesting weapon in the 2400 COD Point bundle, which is the Big Boomer, a shotgun featuring a Juggernog Perk-a-Cola can as its muzzle.
However, fans were quick to notice that the weapon also prominently features a reference to the popular classic Double Tap Perk. Yes, this could simply be referring to double-tapping your enemies — otherwise known as shooting them twice — to ensure they stay down, which is an essential part of many zombie franchises.
But that’s not the only reference to the Black Ops 6 Double Tap Perk return. On closer inspection, the Operator skin included in the same bundle also sporting a Double Tap Root Beer keychain, complete with the Perk-a-Cola’s logo. Because the Operator features several other Perk-a-Cola vials on its person and even comes with an emote that allows you to drink a Juggernog in-game, this is a clear reference to Double Tap arriving in Black Ops 6 Zombies, and not just a random speculation.
And since it’s been confirmed that players would be getting a new Perk in Season 1 Reloaded alongside Citadelle des Morts, it seems that Treyarch is dropping hints at what’s coming.
What The Black Ops 6 Double Tap Return May Look Like
For all those unaware, Double Tap (sometimes known as Double Tap Root Beer) is a Perk that was first featured back in Call of Duty: World at War. After that, it appeared in the first three Black Ops games but has since been missing in action in mainline series entries.
Double Tap increases a weapon’s fire rate by 33%, allowing all guns to be fired at an increased speed. It also allows players to use equipment faster, and operate pump-action or bolt-action weapons quicker. And yes, in Black Ops 6, just like every other time, Double Tap will also come with six Augments (three major, three minor) that allow players to make upgrades to the Perk and to change the way it operates. Whether this version of the classic “Perk Can” will be the most powerful Double Tap yet is still unknown, and as such, only time can tell.
