Leg 1: Liverpool to win
It will be an injury-ravaged Real Madrid side who arrive at Anfield on Wednesday night, with Vinicius Junior, Aurelien Tchouameni, Thibaut Courtois, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao all out, whilst Rodrygo is doubtful.
Even without an ever-increasing injury list, Los Blancos have served up some very poor showings in recent weeks, losing 4-0 to Barcelona in La Liga before being beaten on their own patch by a mediocre Milan side, 3-1 in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are the only remaining side with a 100%-win record in the competition. Real Madrid have already lost twice, falling to Milan and away from home against Lille, another side they should be comfortably beating.
The Reds have every right to feel confident heading into this clash, having lost just once all season, a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest way back in September. Since then, Arne Slot’s men have won 13 of their 14 games in all competitions, with their one draw coming against Arsenal at the Emirates.
At this price, backing them to keep their impressive momentum going against a severely weakened Real Madrid looks a smart play.
Leg 2: uNDER 5.5 Liverpool Corners
Across four Champions League games Liverpool have hit this line only once, against RB Leipzig, averaging just 4.50 corners per game in European competition this season.
In their last seven games in the Premier League and Champions League, they have cleared this line a mere three times, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Leverkusen, and Aston Villa all holding the Reds to three or fewer corners. In this competition specifically, they have had just six corners in their two home games so far.
Real Madrid have been stingy in terms of corners conceded in Europe, allowing five or fewer corners in three of their four Champions League games to date. Their four matches have seen them average just 4.25 corners against per game. In La Liga they have been allowing roughly the same, at an average of 4.31 corners conceded per game.
Across 18 league and Champions League games this season, Los Blancos have allowed six or more corners only four times. With Liverpool taking relatively few corners and Real Madrid conceding even fewer, backing the under here looks to offer very solid value.
Leg 3: Liverpool To Have 6+ Shots On Target
Liverpool have averaged 7.50 shots on target per game in this season’s Champions League, the fourth-highest rate of any side in the competition.
Arne Slot’s side have cleared this line in four of their last five games in all competitions, and in three of their four games in the Champions League, notching 11 against Milan, seven against RB Leipzig and eight against Leverkusen last time out.
Shockingly enough, Real Madrid actually rank as the seventh-worst of 36 teams in terms of shots on target conceded per game in the Champions League, allowing 6.25 per game to date, despite what looked, on paper at least, to be a comfortable opening four fixtures. With even more injuries piling up, those numbers are likely to get worse before they get better.
Having conceded seven shots on target to both Stuttgart and Dortmund, and then nine to Milan already in European competition, an in-form Liverpool side have every chance to hit at least six at Anfield here.
lEG 4: Kostas Tsimikas To Have 1+ Shots
Rounding out the bet builder, we are backing another selection which offers excellent value, Kostas Tsimikas to have 1+ shots. The Greece international has started just six games this season, but with Andy Robertson’s performances and role within Arne Slot’s system coming under increasing scrutiny, Tsimikas has begun to stake a claim for the starting spot.
Having already started three of Liverpool’s four Champions League games, he looks like he may well get the nod here after Robertson had yet another poor performance at the weekend. The Scotland international gave away a penalty against Southampton for their first goal before getting caught out of position for the Saints’ second goal in Liverpool’s 3-1 win on Sunday.
Across these six starts in all competitions, Tsimikas has had at least one shot in five. He is averaging 1.25 shots per 90 in all competitions and, having taken 4 shots in Liverpool’s opener against Milan in this competition, his shot numbers are even higher in Europe, where he averages 1.72 per 90.
Tsimikas has also had at least one shot in both of his Premier League starts this season, averaging 0.77 shots per 90 despite starting in only two of his six appearances.
