Leg 1: Over 7.5 Man City Corners
Our opening bet for this Sunday afternoon clash would have landed in 13 of Man City’s 18 Premier League games, including 4 of their last 5 league games.
The five games in which it has not hit have come against top class opposition, such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton, Newcastle, and Aston Villa. Leicester are obviously not of the same calibre, and we expect that even a weakened City side should be able to beat this line, as they have done when facing bottom-half opposition throughout the season so far.
Leicester have generally kept their opponents to low corner tallies, but they now face City, who have taken more corners per game than any other Premier League side, notching a huge 8.39 corners per game. Only Tottenham (8.06) join the Blues in taking more than 7 corners per game on average.
The Foxes have seen Chelsea, West Ham, Tottenham, and Bournemouth take 8 or more corners at the King Power Stadium this season. Only West Ham sit outside the top 6 for corners taken per game in the Premier League, with other sides that generally win high numbers of corners per game beating this line comfortably when visiting Leicester.
Leg 2: James Justin TO Have 1+ Shots
Leicester’s right-back James Justin averages 0.85 shots per 90 in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side have been extremely poor at the back in recent weeks, conceding plenty of shots which makes attacking their opponents in the shots markets a play which can offer great value.
Justin looks like the best option here, having taken a shot in 4 of his last 6 league starts for Leicester, which includes 2 shots against Brighton and 2 on the road against Liverpool on Boxing Day. The right back has also already notched shots in games against Arsenal, Chelsea, and Aston Villa in the Premier League this season.
Man City have allowed opposition RBs to take a shot in 2 of their last 4 games. The Citizens have been far from defensively solid and Leicester will be looking to take the game to the reigning champions, who have won just 1 of their last 13 games in all competitions.
Justin needs no invitation to join the attack and he has been taking many more shots since Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s appointment, taking a shot in 3 of his last 4 games for the club, all of which adds to our reasoning for backing him to take a shot here.
Leg 3: Savio To Have 1+ Shots On Target
Brazil international winger Savinho has now had a shot on target in 6 straight Premier League starts for Man City, and his average of 1.10 shots on target per 90 is the second highest amongst likely Man City starters. He has also now had a shot on target in 5 straight starts in all competitions for City.
Despite being in and out of the starting XI in recent weeks, Savinho looks set to retain his place after an impressive showing against Everton. Whilst the team as a whole was poor, he had 7 shots on goal, 3 of which were on target and also won the penalty which was missed by Erling Haaland in the second half.
Only Brentford concede more shots on target per game than Leicester City this season, with the Foxes allowing 6.06. Aside from Haaland, City have vanishingly few genuine goalscoring threats, so we should expect chances to fall to their wingers, Savinho and Doku here. With his willingness to shoot not in question, backing Savinho to test the Leicester goalkeeper looks like a smart pick.
Leg 4: James Justin To Be Fouled 1+ Times
Our final selection for this bet builder sees us backing James Justin once again, this time to be fouled once or more. The ever-present Leicester defender has now been fouled in 14 of his 18 Premier League starts this season, including winning a total of 5 fouls in his last 3 league starts.
Despite playing for a side that sees just 45.8% possession of the ball per game on average, Justin has won multiple fouls in 7 Premier League games this season, suggesting a knack for enticing opponents in before buying a cheap foul to help relieve pressure. Last time out against league leading Liverpool, Justin showed this off impressively, drawing 3 fouls in total.
He will be up against Man City’s Jeremy Doku, who has made more of an effort on the defensive end this season, which has caused him to foul on occasion. The Belgium international has played limited minutes this season, but has fouled in 2 of his last 4 Premier League starts.
Josko Gvardiol will also be in and around Justin down Leicester’s right flank, with the Croatia international committing 0.55 fouls per 90.
