Leg 1: Both Teams To score
Before the international break, Leicester fell to a 3-0 defeat away at Man United, in what was probably their worst performance of the season so far. It was also the first time the Foxes had failed to score in a Premier League this season, and though Chelsea will pose a tough test, they will back themselves to find the net here.
The visitors have shipped at least one goal in six straight Premier League games and have kept just two clean sheets in the league all season, both of which came all the way back in September.
Steve Cooper’s side have faced Tottenham, Aston Villa, and surprise package Nottingham Forest at home so far this season, scoring in all three matches. With a mixed reaction expected for former boss Enzo Maresca when he returns to the King Power here, the fans should be right up for this one, which should feed into the players.
With Chelsea scoring in all but one of their 11 league games, and Leicester keeping just one clean sheet, that makes it nine out of 11 games in which the hosts have seen both sides score, and eight out of 11 for the Blues.
Leg 2: Over 4.5 Cards
No side has seen more yellow cards than Chelsea in the Premier League this season, the Blues averaging a whopping 3.82 per game, or 42 bookings in 11 games. Leicester also sit comfortably top-half in this metric, joint-seventh with 2.73 cards per game.
Leicester, have seen at least three cards in three of their last four home league games, picking up four cards against both Aston Villa and Bournemouth and five against Nottingham Forest.
Five of Leicester’s last six league games have seen over 4.5 cards, whilst Chelsea have seen five or more cards in 10 straight league games. Their opponents have been booked three or more times in six of their last eight games, with five of those six seeing 4+ cards awarded to the other side.
Referee Andy Madley has been showing 4.25 cards per game in the Premier League this season. He has refereed Chelsea once, showing them three cards in their opener against Man City.
If Chelsea pick up two bookings here, which they have done in all but one of their league games this season, Leicester being booked three times or more to cash this bet looks easily possible.
Leg 3: NOni Madueke To Have 3+ Shots
Chelsea’s Noni Madueke enjoyed two starts for England over the international break, and though he is yet to break his international duck, he did have five shots in 139 minutes of action, a rate of 3.20 shots per 90.
For Chelsea, in the Premier League, Madueke takes more shots than any regular starter, notching 3.69 per 90 to sit just ahead of Cole Palmer. The young winger has done so despite a tough set of fixtures for Chelsea which has seen them face just four sides in the bottom half of the league.
In those four games against weaker opponents, Madueke has notched 14 shots, taking at least three shots in three of the four, and managing two against West Ham in the other. He has also had three or more shots in two of his other starts in the league, including seven against Nottingham Forest, and four against Arsenal before the international break.
He also has a favourable matchup against 21-year-old left-back Victor Kristiansen, who has allowed Amad Diallo to have four shots from the right wing, and Omari Hutchinson three shots from the same position in his last two league starts for the Foxes.
lEG 4: Cole Palmer To Be Fouled 2+ Times
Unsurprisingly, as the hub of this Chelsea side, Cole Palmer is their most-fouled player to regularly start in the Premier League, both in terms of total fouls won (26) and per 90, (2.45).
The 21-year-old wonderkid has enjoyed another superb start to his second season at Chelsea and will be a focus for all three of Leicester’s midfielders as they aim to deny him the ball where possible, and space when he the ball does reach him.
Palmer has been fouled twice or more in six of his last eight Premier League starts, with five of these six seeing him win three or more fouls. He has also been fouled at least three times in four straight away league games heading into this game.
Leicester will be matching Palmer up against Wilfried Ndidi, who commits 1.91 fouls per 90 in the Premier League. He will be supported by Harry Winks, who commits 0.53 fouls per 90 and Boubakary Soumare, who fouls 1.25 times per 90.
Between them, at least two fouls on Palmer looks highly likely in a game where Chelsea should dominate possession.
