Business of Esports – Tournaments Are Now Available On The PlayStation 5

On November 29th, Sony announced it would be launching PlayStation Tournaments on PlayStation 5s. This comes after three months of beta testing the next-generation competitive experience on console devices.

The first tournaments for the PlayStation 5 will be focused on Guilty Gear -Strive-, NBA 2K23, and FIFA 23. These tournaments will feature a range of prizes and special events as well as a leaderboard for the global PS5 community.

“PlayStation Tournaments on PS5 will create more meaningful and frictionless competitive gaming experiences for players of all skill levels. We can’t wait for you to sign up, play, compete, and engage with the community across lots of fantastic games from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners,” said Louis Figueroa, the Senior Director of Global Esports and Competitive gaming for Sony. “We plan to share more information on new platform features, titles, and events in the near future. Stay tuned.”

To coincide with the launch of these tournaments, PlayStation is hosting a win-A-Thon competition on PS4s and PS5s until January 31st. As you take part in PlayStation Tournaments and gather wins, you will improve your standing on the win-A-Thon leaderboard. When the competition concludes at the end of January, the best players will receive exciting prizes like cash, PlayStation accessories, or a new console.
