The tournament at poker-rooms/commerce-casino.htm”>Commerce casino in Los Angeles, the 33rd of the series, played down to the final five on Wednesday. All remaining players returned to action the following day to determine a champion.

Engel, a Canadian poker pro who holds the record with 18 World Series of poker Circuit (WSOPC) rings, took home $12,140 for his efforts. He also received his fourth career Remington Trophy, awarded to those who win LAPC events.
The champion defeated poker-players/sean-yu/” class=”pokerPlayer”>Sean Yu, a nine-time WSOPC ring winner and World Series of poker (WSOP) bracelet winner, heads-up for the title. Yu, playing in his hometown of Los Angeles, received $8,090. He has over $3.1 million in live tournament cashes, according to The Hendon Mob.
Engel, a four-time WSOP bracelet winner, is closing in on $9 million in lifetime live tournament earnings. He’s 13th all time among Canadians. poker-players/daniel-negreanu/” class=”pokerPlayer”>Daniel Negreanu leads the way with $54.4 million in cashes.

The 2025 LAPC, which began Jan. 10 in SoCal, runs through March 2. PokerNews will be on-site live reporting the $10,000 buy-in Main Event starting Feb. 22. There are many other big events between now and the end, including the $1,200 NLH Commerce Classic starting Feb. 22, a $1 million guaranteed tournament.
