Leg 1: Both Teams To score
It’s early in the season but this looks like an obvious selection to add to your Bournemouth vs Chelsea bet builder. The simple fact is that neither team has kept a clean sheet yet this season and has shown frailties at the back. Bournemouth had a crazy come from behind victory against Everton in the last round but let’s not forget they played some very sloppy football to go 0-2 down in the first place. The Cherries have conceded over 15 shots on average which will be music to Chelsea’s ears.
Both teams have scored in every game apart from Chelsea’s inability to find the net vs Man City in their home opener. We can probably let them off that and it must be remembered that they scored six goals in their lone road fixture at Wolves. It’s early in the season but both teams already rank inside the top five for total xG created. It’s quite clear that the opportunities are going to be there for both teams. Chelsea rank third for average shots on target and have players in-form such as Noni Madueke who just made his England debut. Both teams to score yes feels like a no brainer selection for a fixture involving these two.
Leg 2: Bournemouth to Have 4+ Shots on Target
The home side look underrated in this market. As aforementioned, Bournemouth have one of the highest xGs in the Premier League so far this season (6.60), the third most of any team. One of the main reasons for that is their ability to shoot well and The Cherries average exactly five SOT per 90 mins. They look like a good piece to add to your Bournemouth vs Chelsea bet builder to hit the target at least four times. This requirement is below their average and should be very obtainable in a potentially fast paced attacking contest.
After any international break the lineups are often difficult to predict. Rather than second guessing who will feature in the starting XI’s, then taking team totals could be a wiser move. Bournemouth have several individuals who should be strong at hitting the target with new record signing from Porto, Evanilson desperate to score his first goal for the club. Antoine Semenyo is averaring a ridiculous 5.67 shots per game and is clearly very confident right now. The likes of Marcus Tavernier and Luis Sinisterra also offer plenty of threat. Bournemouth to have four shots on target or more looks like a safe option.
Leg 3: Bournemouth to have over 3.5 corners
Chelsea are the favourites to win this match around the even money mark which has perhaps given some value to Bournemouth and their players in certain markets. This feels like another spot in which The Cherries are underrated. Taking the home team to have over 3.5 corners feels well within their capabilities and isn’t asking too much. This could be quite an open game of football containing a lot of shots, which in turn could lead to goalkeeper saves, blocks and frantic goalmouth action.
Bournemouth average 4.70 corners per game so far this season which is around the average mark compared to other teams in the Premier League. They play in a 4-2-3-1 system with a mixture of players who cut inside or who might stretch the game out wide. They are facing a Chelsea outfit who have only conceded an average of 2.70 corners per game which is surprisingly low. However, they dominated possession in two of those fixtures and faced the likes of Palace and Wolves who don’t play with much width. Andoni Iraola’s men are a different proposition and Chelsea are now playing on the road. Bournemouth should, almost by default, be able to rack up at least four corners here.
LEG 4: Antoine Semenyo to have 3 or more shots
Bournemouth’s Ghanian international Antoine Semenyo has been firing in plenty of shots this season at a massive rate of 5.70 per game! He is thriving as a starter out on the right wing and possesses a number of technical and physical qualities required to cause opposition defenses some concerns. Fresh from scoring against Everton in the previous game, his confidence should be raised even further.
More attention is often given to other higher profile players such as Justin Kluivert and Evanilson. Quite how much longer that Semenyo can remain under the radar remains to be seen but taking him to have three or more shots looks like a decent option based on what we’ve seen so far this season. Chelsea could be overrated which is why this price is inflated. The home team won’t play with any fear and should offer plenty of attacking outlets. Semenyo loves to try and shoot at goal and has shown no signs of slowing down.
