3 best bets across Europe on Sunday

Sunday evening provides intriguing action across Europe, including games from Ligue 1, Serie A, and La Liga. The main event is the Basque derby between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad.

Football tipster Tom Desborough is all over this, finding the market’s three best value bets.

Sunday betting tips

19:45 – Nice v Strasbourg
Nice to win and over 2.5 goals

19:45 – Lazio v Bologna
Valentin Castellanos to score

20:00 – Athletic Bilbao v Real Sociedad
Draw

19:45 – Nice v Strasbourg – Nice to win and over 2.5 goals

WHEN: Sunday, November 24th
WHERE: Allianz Riviere, Nice
TV: Ligue 1 Pass

Nice began their campaign with inconsistent results before settling down in recent games.

They won just two of their first 11 games but are now eight games unbeaten, including a 2-1 victory against high-flying Monaco. Franck Haise’s side are also unbeaten at home this season, and they will fancy their chances of cementing their spot inside the top six.

Visitors Strasbourg are on a two-game losing streak after defeats to Monaco and St Etienne. Despite this, manager Liam Rosenior will be pleased with the season so far.

His side are 11th in Ligue 1 and only five points behind the top six. However, this match may be a stretch too far for them, as they have not won away from home this term.

Four of Strasbourg’s last five games have seen over 2.5 goals, while Nice have seen that total in three of their previous four. So a Nice win and over 2.5 goals is a likely outcome here.

19:45 – Lazio v Bologna – Valentin Castellanos to score

WHEN: Sunday, November 24th
WHERE: Stadio Olimpico, Rome
TV: TNT Sports 1

Serie A has been the closest league in Europe this season, with the top six being separated by only three points. Lazio are one of those six, sitting in fifth, three points behind early pace-setters Atalanta.

The Biancocelesti are averaging over two goals a game this season, with Valentin Castellanos leading the scoring charts with five goals in eleven league games. The Argentinian will lead the line again against Bologna and will be keen to add to his tally.

The visitors, Bologna, have been difficult to beat this season, losing only once in August, away at Napoli. Their last game before the international break saw a memorable 3-2 win away at Roma, and with another trip to free-scoring opponents in Italy’s capital, we can hope for more of the same.

20:00 – Athletic Bilbao v Real Sociedad – Draw

WHEN: Sunday, November 24th
WHERE: Estadio de San Mamés, Bilbao
TV: Premier Sports 1

The latest instalment of the Basque derby sees Real Sociedad arrive in Bilbao in 10th place, but fresh off a memorable 1-0 win over league leaders Barcelona. Imanol Alguacil’s side have only conceded 10 goals in their 11 La Liga matches, giving them the second-best defensive record in the league.

Hosts Athletic are on a six-game unbeaten run and are two points ahead of their city rivals. Despite being tough to beat, they haven’t won any of their last three La Liga games, drawing to Real Mallorca, Real Betis, and Real Valladolid.

Sociedad have the fourth-best away record this season, while Bilbao are yet to lose at home. This derby hasn’t seen a draw since 2021, but there is little separating the two sides this season, and a stalemate isn’t unlikely.
