On the opening day of the first Test between South Africa and Pakistan at the SuperSport Park, Centurion, debutant Corbin Bosch etched his name in cricketing folklore with a sensational start to his Test career. A dream start for Corbin Bosch

The pivotal moment came in the 15th over of Pakistan’s first innings. With the scorecard reading 42 for 1, Bosch was handed the ball after the drinks break. His first delivery, a full-length ball slanting across the outside off, tempted Masood into a loose drive. A thick outside edge ensued, and the ball flew to Marco Jansen at gully, who made no mistake. Masood was dismissed for 17 off 58 balls, leaving Pakistan at 42/2. Bosch celebrated with exuberance as his teammates rallied around him to mark the unforgettable milestone.

A stellar domestic track record of Bosch

Bosch’s Test debut comes on the back of an impressive introduction to international cricket. Having debuted in the ODI format against Pakistan earlier in the same tour, Bosch’s promotion to the Test side highlights his rapid rise through the ranks. The 30-year-old all-rounder was included in the Proteas’ squad for the Pakistan tour owing to his stellar performances in domestic cricket.

Bosch’s domestic record underscores his credentials as a genuine all-rounder. In 34 First-Class matches, he has taken 72 wickets and amassed 1,295 runs, including 10 half-centuries. His List A record is equally commendable, with 38 wickets and 547 runs in 32 matches, featuring three fifties. Bosch’s ability to contribute both with the ball and the bat has made him a valuable addition to South Africa’s Test setup.
