Should You Get the New Helldivers 2 Servants of Freedom Warbond?

Helldivers 2’s Servants of Freedom Warbond has some killer weapons and armor in its roster, with some having way more explosive firepower than others. You may be wondering if this Warbond is worth the 1000 Super Credits, which is why we’ll look at each of the weapons and let you know if it’s a must-have or not.

LAS-17 Double Edge Sickle

  • This fires much like the original LAS-17 Sickle, but it now also has an overheat mechanic where sustained fire will make the weapon deal more damage and gain medium armor penetration at the cost of burning the user slowly.
  • The Double Edge Sickle excels against Hive Guards, Brood Commanders, Scout Striders, and Devastators since it uses a heat mechanic instead of traditional magazine-based ammo.
  • The self-burn damage can be mitigated with fire-resistant armor, a Shield Generator Backpack, and the Vitality Booster to make more extensive use of the overheat mechanic.
  • It could be considered a direct upgrade of the regular Sickle if you can work with the damage over time effect. Worth it if you’re a fan of laser weapons

GP-31 Ultimatum Grenade Pistol

  • Compared to the original Grenade Pistol, this version packs a powerful punch along with a massive blast radius. Testing shows that it is capable of one-shotting Bile Titans, Behemoths, Impalers, Tanks, and Hulks.
  • It has enough demolition force to destroy most Automaton buildings like Fabricators and Command Bunkers without having to aim at weak spots. The only downside to it is that it only has two shots in total, but with a Supply Pack, ammo will not be an issue.
  • Overall, it is one of the best weapons from this Warbond and is worth the price.

Portable Hellbomb

  • This Stratagem varies in usefulness for certain scenarios. On easier difficulties, it isn’t as valuable since a 500kg bomb can take care of tactical objectives without issues. However, on Difficulty 7 and beyond, it becomes more useful in Automaton and missions where a Strategem Jammer and other tactical objectives are involved.
  • The blast radius for the Portable Hellbomb is the exact same as the regular version and doesn’t require an input sequence to arm. All you need to do is drop the backpack and get clear of the blast zone.
  • Fans of the Automaton front will definitely love this Stratagem, but it has a few niche uses in Terminid and Illuminate missions. Get this item if you’re a dedicated Botdiver.

G-50 Seeker Grenade

  • The Seeker Grenade has a throw-and-forget function where it will fly toward the closest enemy it can find. However, it can instead be directed towards a specific target by pinging it.
  • It has the same blast radius as the standard grenade
  • The Seeker Grenade is quite useful when targeting airborne enemies like the Shriekers and for destroying a cluster of weaker enemies if grenade throwing isn’t your specialty.

IE-3 Martyr Armor and IE-12 Righteous Armor

  • Both armor sets have 100 armor, 500 speed, and 100 stamina for stats, but their armor passive causes the wearer to explode 1.5 seconds after death.
  • Has some niche case uses against Terminid groups and Voteless hordes, but otherwise, it doesn’t have much else in utility.
  • The armor can make for a fun suicide bomber build with the Portable Hellbomb, but it’s best to save your Medals for the other weapons and Stratagem.
