RBI Ombudsman calls on Chief Minister of Haryana




The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Ombudsman, Sh. Rajeev Dwivedi, paid a courtesy call on Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, in Chandigarh.

During the meeting, the Ombudsman briefed the Chief Minister on several measures being taken by the RBI for customer protection. Importantly, the single window of RBI Ombudsman Scheme 2021, which works on the principle of ‘One Nation One Ombudsman’ was discussed in the meeting.

The Chief Minister underscored the need for public to be aware of the precautions while carrying out financial transactions, so as to prevent themselves from digital frauds. The Chief Minister added that public should not transfer funds towards offers of investments in shares, crypto currency, etc. and also safeguard themselves from digital arrests. In the meeting, the initiative of the Government of India to report suspected frauds to the portal sancharsathi.gov.in was also discussed.

 

The Ombudsman brought attention of the Chief Minister about the recent efforts of Ombudsman, Chandigarh in this sphere including the targetted public outreach programmes. He also presented the Chief Minister with  ‘Raju and the Forty Thieves’, an RBI publication detailing the modus operandi of financial frauds.
