NEW DELHI: Actor Allu Arjun was granted regular bail on Friday by a local court in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case.
“The conditions have been imposed that he (Allu Arjun) has to attend the police station. Bail has been granted (to Allu Arjun)…The court was convinced that this was not a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Therefore. the court granted bail,” the actor’s lawyer Ashok Reddy said.
“The quash petition is pending before the high court and we will take steps to pursue that quash petition in the high court…The next date of hearing in the high court is on 21st January,” he added.
The incident occurred on December 4 during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where a large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun.
Chaos broke out when the actor waved to fans from the sunroof of his car, resulting in the death of a woman named Revathi and injuries to her child.
After the incident, Allu Arjun was arrested and subsequently released on bail after providing a Rs 50,000 bond.
Meanwhile, the boy injured during the premiere responded on December 24, 20 days after the event.
A day later, Allu’s father pledged financial assistance of Rs 2 crores to Sri Tej, the son of Revathi, who tragically lost her life in the Sandhya Theatre incident, as well as to the victim’s family.
