lEG 1: aMAD dIALLO tO haVE 1+ sHOTS oN tARGET

We’re backing one of the major beneficiaries of Man United’s mid-season coaching change, Amad Diallo to continue a strong run in front of goal here.

The Ivory Coast international has been a near ever-present for the new manager since his arrival, playing the full 90 minutes against Ipswich in his first game in charge and starting all but one of the Premier League games under Ruben Amorim.

In that time Diallo has had a shot on target in 5 of his 7 starts, only failing to do so when playing as a wing-back against Everton, and in the defeat to Wolves on Boxing Day where the Red Devils played half of the game with only 10 men after Bruno Fernandes’ red card.

Despite 3 of his 10 games under Amorim seeing him start on the bench, Diallo has notched a shot on target in 7 of these games, and comes into this game having taken 5 shots on target across his last 4 games for the club.

lEG 2: aLEXANDER iSAK to hAVE 3+ shOTS

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak looks a strong choice in the shot markets here. The 25-year-old is in superb form, bagging 7 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games for Newcastle, including a hat-trick at Portman Road against Ipswich on December 21.

Since returning from injury Isak has only failed to score in 3 of his 11 Premier League starts, and the in-form Swede can be backed at an attractive price of 2.20 to score or assist. However, we’re choosing to back him in the shot markets instead.

Since his short injury lay-off, Isak has played over 45 minutes in 10 of his 11 Premier League starts, and has managed at least 2 shots in all 10 of those games. He has had 3 or more shots in 8 of those 10 league starts. His record in these 10 games reads 7, 3, 2, 3, 6 , 2, 3, 4, 5, and 4 shots.

This line is well within Isak’s reach, and with United conceding 10 or more shots in all but 1 of their 9 games against sides in the top half of the Premier League table, there should be more than enough shots to go around to get Isak over this line.

lEG 3: jACOB mURPHY to Have 2+ Shots

As mentioned above, United have conceded plenty of shots when facing sides in the top half of the table. Arsenal and Brighton both took 14 shots against the Red Devils, whilst Spurs had an enormous 24 shots at Old Trafford earlier in the season. Those numbers are high enough to tempt us back into the Newcastle shots market here.

Our second selection in these markets involves backing Jacob Murphy to have at least 2 shots here. The 29-year-old must have feared his time at the club was limited when the new owners began to spend big, but he has found a role in the squad, and has been in superb form lately.

Murphy has started 6 straight Premier League games, taking at least 2 shots in all 6 of these starts. He has bagged 3 goals and racked up 4 assists in these games, scoring or assisting in 4 of his last 5. His shot record across this time reads 3, 2, 4, 3, 3, and 3, with Murphy having taken 3 or more shots in 5 of these 6 starts, which puts him well above the line required for this bet to land.

In these last 6 games Murphy has averaged an enormous 3.95 shots per 90, so we would expect him to comfortably clear this line here, even if he is withdrawn around the 60-minute mark, as has been the norm.

Leg 4: Casemiro To Be Fouled 1+ Times

Casemiro looks likely to be recalled to a United midfield that has been run ragged of late. New signing Manuel Ugarte has done little to raise the level of the side, so we anticipate Ruben Amorim will turn to the experience of the veteran Brazilian here.

The 32-year-old has a very strong record for winning fouls, drawing 1.40 fouls won per 90, so if he does get the nod here, a price of 1.73 to win a foul represents fantastic value. Across his last 8 starts for Man United, Casemiro has been fouled in 7, winning multiple fouls in 4 of these 7 games.

This looks likely to be a foul heavy game, with Newcastle’s midfield packed full of combative players who love to get stuck into their opponents. Their likely midfield trio features 3 players who all average over 1.27 fouls per 90 in the Premier League.

In particular Casemiro will be up against Joelinton (2.42 fouls per 90), and Sandro Tonali (1.27). His fellow Brazilian Joelinton has fouled in all but 1 of his 17 Premier League starts this season, racking up multiple fouls in 11 of these 17, whilst Tonali has fouled in 7 of his 9 league starts.
