Kolkata rape-murder: Protests banned at Salt Lake Stadium

The brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old post graduate trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and hospital has sparked nationwide protests. The Indian Medical Association has called for 24-hour protests on Saturday across the country.

The Kolkata Police on Saturday issued prohibitory orders as the protests at the famous Salt Lake Stadium were banned. Meanwhile, the police have also imposed prohibitory orders near state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital from Sunday till August 24, banning meetings and assembly of more than five persons, an order stated.
