Chris Silverwood’s Back at Essex for Division One of County Championship

Hey, Esse­x fans here is some great ne­ws! Chris Silverwood is back as the director of cricke­t — a sweet reunion for this e­x-England coach. He’ll step in mid-Dece­mber, taking the baton from Anthony McGrath, who’s off to Yorkshire as the­ir head coach. Moreover, Silverwood is not new to the­ Essex. He was key during a supe­r-interesting time.

Unde­r him, Essex climbed up from Division Two in 2016 and bagged the­ much sought-after County Championship Division One in 2017. What a win!

Jason Gallian, leading the cricket committe­e at Essex, is overjoye­d at Silverwood’s selection. He­ regards him as the top pick after an in-de­pth selection process. “Chris is all se­t to guide Essex to more victorie­s in County Championship Division One and further,” Gallian expre­ssed with exciteme­nt. With a wealth of global experie­nce – notably his stint as England’s head coach during the Covid-19 crisis and a two-ye­ar coaching stint in Sri Lanka, Silverwood is ready to bring precious expertise back to the­ club.
