Jammu :- In 2024, the Jammu zone achieved notable progress in security and crime control. On the anti-terror front, 14 foreign terrorists were neutralized, and 13 terror modules were busted across the region, including Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, and Kathua. This significant blow to terror networks has disrupted their attempts to destabilize the region.Furthermore, a crackdown on over ground workers (OGWs) resulted in action against 827 individuals compared to 282 in 2023. Additionally, 180 individuals were detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA), reflecting increased pressure on anti-national elements.
In the fight against drugs, 476 NDPS cases were registered, with significant heroin seizures in the Nowshera Sector and Jammu bus stand. 84 NDPS-related cases resulted in the seizure or freezing of property.General crime witnessed a decline in 2024, with a reduction in criminal cases, property thefts, and motor vehicle thefts. Bovine smuggling cases also decreased significantly. These positive outcomes are attributed to proactive policing, community engagement, and improved crime prevention measures.
A significant step towards combating drug abuse was the inauguration of a Drug De-addiction Centre in Jammu, offering comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation services.To tackle cybercrime, 67 police personnel underwent specialized training, and 10 Cyber Cells were operationalized across all districts.
These cells are now fully functional, effectively addressing online fraud and cyber-related offenses, resulting in a lien of Rs. 4.75 crores this year.The progress achieved in 2024 demonstrates the effectiveness of the zone’s multifaceted approach, including intensified surveillance, strategic operations, and community engagement programs, in creating a safer environment for the people of the region.
